Counselling in the context of the Coronavirus

Dear Clients,

The coronavirus is creating anxiety and uncertainty and there has been considerable discussion about the need for ‘social distancing’ in response to the current situation. We think that while physical distancing is an important precaution, this is actually a time for increased social connection and support.

Here is some information about how we are working to reduce any risks of transmission while maintaining our commitment to our clients. Please note that our process may change as the situation evolves.

Physical space:
We are taking all necessary precautions here at the Centre to reduce transmission risk. Our building owners are working with the cleaning staff to ensure enhanced, comprehensive cleaning of all common areas, including washrooms, door handles, elevators, etc. Hand sanitizer is available in all of our offices for use by staff and clients. We have two extra rooms available to reduce crowded waiting areas.

Option for remote sessions:
If you would prefer to arrange your sessions remotely – via phone, Skype, or Facetime, please let us know, preferably the day before. If you are feeling ill, we would also ask that you stay home and do your session remotely. If you’d prefer to postpone, please let us know as soon as possible, although we will not charge for same-day cancellations for those who are ill.

Scheduling, payments and receipts:
Scheduling can be done by phone or by email. We can receive payments via e-transfers or by phone and provide receipts by email.

Returning from international travel:
We are asking that if you have recently travelled out of the country that you let us know so that we can determine together whether an in-person or a remote session is appropriate.

Sincerely,

Marion Balla, M.Ed., M.S.W, R.S.W.
